Nicole enjoyed sleeping with Mum and Dad for the first 8 weeks of her life. Then, she migrated reasonably easily into her own cot. Even though she doesn't have fixed routine as yet, we are trying for a 3 hour (feed, play, sleep) routine during the day.
The first 3 months have been a rollercoaster ride for Nicole. It took Mum almost 2 months to realize that Nicole preferred to sleep on her tummy. At the age of 7 weeks she had her first cold followed by an ear infection. The first cold was tough on everyone as Nicole having difficulty feeding and breathing for a couple of days. Then, just as she had recovered, she had another cold - which wasn't as bad thank goodness! She was diagnosed with umbilical hernia which corrected itself around the age of 2.5 months. Furthermore, at her 2 month checkup the health nurse noticed that she had an uneven number of creases on the back of her legs, which apparently was very common in babies wtih hip problems. So off we go to the hospital to have an hip ultrasound. As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about. Whew!
Nicole is producing many interesting and varied vocal sounds - perhaps the future holds some musical interests for her. Things are starting to settle down somewhat and Nicole is even starting to go 5-6 hours between feeds at night, with one recent stint of 8 hours! Of course, both Mum & Dad were both very excited about this - more sleep for everyone!
Samantha has predicted that Nicole with be tall just like Dad and have the same hair colour as Dad. She also thinks Nicole will have straight hair like Mummy and not curly hair like her big sister. I guess time will tell ...
